Ongoing Crisis in Israel/Palestine: Challenges and Opportunities on the 75th Anniversary of the Nakba

May 2023 will mark the 75th anniversary of what Palestinians call the Nakba, or catastrophe: the founding of the modern State of Israel and the accompanying mass displacement and violence experienced by Palestinians. Grounded in its just peace commitment, First Church members are invited to hear from special guest Hilary Rantisi, Associate Director of the Religion, Conflict, and Peace Initiative at Harvard Divinity School. A Palestinian-American, Hilary formerly served as Director of the Middle East Initiative at Harvard’s Kennedy School and as a grassroots activist in Jerusalem. Hilary will share her family’s experience of the Nakba and offer an update on the current challenges to, and opportunities for, advancing just peace in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
