What does it mean at this time in our lives to live in the world as prayer? Join Carter and Duncan for 6 weekly Zoom sessions, where we will consider together various ways we can be embodied prayer, such as prophet, peace-maker, evangelist, monastic, activist, pastoral companion, and loving family member. Together, we’ll explore topics such as ancient creeds and modern covenants, death (!), grace, and the sacraments. We’ll have time to reflect on “the big questions” and share how we relate to our faith and these topics today. We will roughly cover the second half of the confirmation curriculum – please join us whether or not you were part of the previous group in the fall.

This group began to meet at the end of last year, and is focused on how members of First Church can answer the Christian call to be peacemakers in the Israel-Palestine conflict, especially given the violence of the past 17 months and the role played by the US government/military. The group is currently focused on education about the history of the conflict by reading Rashid Khalidi’s book The Hundred Years War, as well as identifying organizations that play a humanitarian or peacemaking role that individuals can support.
