The Friday Café Returns Indoors (sort of)!
August 17, 2021
After 18 months outside, serving bag lunches and packaged restaurant meals to go, the Friday Café will shift to a hybrid model on September 10. We had hoped to be fully indoors from that date, but the Delta variant makes indoor dining too risky. So we will resume in-person volunteering, with home-cooked food served hot in Margaret Jewett Hall… but we will use take-out containers instead of plates, and seating will continue to be on the church lawn in dry weather.
Volunteer home cooks and on-site servers are needed! If you would enjoy cooking an occasional dish for our weekly potluck-style menu, please visit our online cooking signup. If you would like to help out in person, please visit our online volunteer signup.
Note that vaccination is required for in-person volunteering, and masks must be worn during shifts. Guests will also mask when they come inside to order their meals.
The good news is, in a recent anonymous poll, fully 80% of Friday Café guests (54 respondents) reported being vaccinated! That is even higher than Cambridge’s overall 67% percent.
